Animals Asia is on a mission to end the cruelty of bile farms and rescue the bears inside from a life of torture. Bear bile is an ingredient in traditional Chinese medicine.
In order to collect the bile from their gallbladders, bears are kept in small cages wearing a crude vest attached to a drainage device connected to a permanent open wound in their abdomen.

Bears like Ceasar and Tuffy have been rescued and rehabilitated at Animal Asia’s Chengdu sanctuary.
Raised in a cramped cage since birth, most rescue bears would not survive in the wild. The Chengdu sanctuary offers them a safe and comfortable life with access to a protected reproduction of their natural environment.

He knows he’s finally free.
In the video below, watch Tuffy play outside for the first time after spending 9 years in a bile cage.
